I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Ms.Calloway for the BIDDIE program for the Little League basketball teams at the boys and girls club. The Little League basketball teams are for youth ages 5-12 and 13-16 and it's every Saturday at the Boys&Girls Club on the east side of Syracuse. The BIDDIE program is for the community adults to push their youth to do more productive things and keep them off the streets.
One of my major duties were to collect the registration forms and money from the teams so that they would be able to take their pictures, whether they were team pictures or just individuals. My favorite part that I remember was seeing all the youth so happy and working together not as just a team but as a family and you don't really see that now and days in our youth. I also remember one kid cried because he didn't want to take a picture but Ms.Calloway cheered him up. I must say I would do it all over again one thousand times.

This was an great and different experience. I thought this wasn't going to go so great to be honest. I feel like I did make a difference and I could make many more because some of the teams were sad being that they lost their game but I was definitely able to cheer them up. I think community service plays a big part in our society whether we notice it or not because when it's being done everyone is satisfied. I would recommend my community service opportunity to other students because you never know what another person might get out of an opportunity like that, that little piece of experience can change someone's life. But I can only speak for myself. So thank you Mr.Gates for this opportunity to do community service and meet such great people.
